A.T. &T. Park

The park was first opened in 2000 to become the Official Home of the San Francisco Giants baseball team. Giants Enterprises, uses the park for any and all appropriate events.

Alcatraz Island

Alcatraz is a 22 acre island, 1.5 miles off the shore of San Francisco. Over time, it has been used as a light house, a military fortification, a prison, and a Federal Bureau of Prisons federal prison. Eventually, the island became a national land reserve and is now looked after by the National Park Service. Tours are led every half an hour, daily by a ferry service, docked by Pier 33 and Fisherman’s wharf. Although most remember for being a prison of criminals like Al Capone, the island is also the home to the west coast’s oldest light house! In the years after prison, it became the home to Native Americans from all different tribes. The new natives turned the island into an education, ecology and cultural center, in attempts for the U.S. Congress to realize the harm they had done to the Native Americans.

Civic Center

The Civic Center was built after the 1906 earthquake to house the City Hall and Hall of Records. The center was to be San Francisco’s proud centerpiece to its newly rebuilt city. In the recent times, the building is now surrounded by elegant government buildings, thus the Civic Center has been the home to many different rallies including anti-war protests. The center has also become the home to the St. Patrick’s Day parade, the Gay Pride Festival, and the Love Parade.

Fisherman's Wharf

Fisherman's Wharf gets its name and neighborhood characteristics from the city's early days during the Gold Rush here Italian migre fishermen settled in the area and fished for the Dungeness Crab. From then until present day it remained the home base of San Francisco's fishing fleet. Despite its redevelopment into a tourist attraction during the 1970s and 1980s, the area is still home to many active fishermen and their fleets.

Golden Gate Bridge & Park

The construction of the Golden Gate Bridge originally began on January 5th 1933, by McClintic-Marshall Construction Company. With a $30 million budget, the bridge was completed in April of 1937. The project was the idea of Joseph Strauss and M.M. O’Shaughnessy and became open for through traffic in May of 1937. Since then the Golden Gate Bridge has become a land mark for not only the city of San Francisco but also the state of California. It has also become one of the world’s most photographed bridges and is consider one of the world’s wonders by the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Harding Park Golf Course

Harding Park is an 18-hole municipal golf course owned by San Francisco and operated by P.G.A Tour Golf Course Properties. The course was opened in 1925 and is named after U.S. President Warren G. Museum of Modern Art

This Museum of Art is the first museum on the west coast to develop a nationally recognized 20th century art collection. Founded in 1935 by Grace L. McCann Morley and since then has collected over 26,000 works of painting, sculpture, photography, and even architecture. This museum contains works from artists like Ansel Adams to Andy Warhol. Also quite the trend setter, SFMOMA was the first to recognize photography as a fine art. The art gallery at Fort Mason is directed by the same director and curator as SFMOMA.

War Memorial Opera House

The Opera House was originally built in 1932 to be the home of both San Francisco’s Opera and Ballet. In honor of the men and women that served in the First World War, the Opera House, Veterans Building, and Memorial Court combine to make the War Memorial of San Francisco. With over 3,000 seats, the center houses events such as Ballets, Operas, recitals, plays, lectures, and gala events. Tours are scheduled every Monday, except holidays, from 10am to 2pm on the hour every hour. Group tours should be reserved two weeks in advance.
